Eire Og 1-11 1-13 Lamh Dhearg

Eire Og didn’t really live up to their full potential in a game which we really should have won. Colm McAuley starred for the Ogs however, scoring 9 points.

Eire Og 0-9 4-8 St Galls

The Ogs were unlucky to lose this game by such a big margin, and in fact had enough chances to win the match against undoubtedly the strongest team in the county. Best for the Ogs were Ryan, Elliott and Rice in defence, McAuley and Smye in midfield, and Corner and O’Connor up front

Eire Og 2-6 3-7 St Malachys

A very disappointing result against a poor St Malachys team. 2 points lost in a match we should have won quite easily.

Eire Og 9-19 1-05 Sarsfields

Eire Og went into this league match on the back of what has been a mixed season so far, good performances against St Galls, Ardoyne and Lamh Dhearg were overshadowed by disappointing defeats to St Malachys and St Brides.

However in this match the Ogs were simply fantastic. In the first half Eire Og had a very strong wind behind them giving them a great advantage. An early goal from a penalty and point from Colm McAuley soon got the Ogs underway. Another goal from Niall Rice along with points from Chris Smye, Joe Hughes and Peter Elliott put the Ogs further in front. However some wayward shooting and the absence of a reliable free-taker (typical McAuley) allowed Sarsfields to keep in touch, and with a strong wind advantage for Sarsfields in the second half, Eire Og were facing the possibility of a very difficult second half.

Half time score: Eire Og 2-6 0-4 Sarsfields

With a strong wind backing Sarsfields, Eire Og were facing a potentially difficult second half. However this didn’t materialise at all. 3 early goals ( 2 from Ray Cochrane and one from McAuley) put an end to any possible comeback. 2 further McAuley goals, another from Ray Cochrane, and one from Niall Rice ended the match as a contest. 4 more points from mc auley, 2 from Darryl Corner and Chris Smye, pounded even more misery on Sarsfields. By this stage the Ogs were running riot. 7 further points from play from Peter Elliott, and another from Chris Smye wrapped things up for the Ogs.

While all the Ogs played well, the best were Ciaran Ryan, Danny Stewart and Peter Elliott in defence, McAuley and Smye in midfield, and Rice, Cochrane and Niall O’Connor up front.

Final Score: Eire Og 9-19 1-05 Sarsfields

Scorers: Mc Auley 4-6, Elliott 0-8, Cochrane 3-0, Rice 2-0, Smye 0-3, Corner 0-1, Hughes 0-1

Eire Og 2-10 3-05 Ardoyne

The Ogs came into this game on the back of a very heavy defeat against a talented Davitts team. Desperate for a win the Ogs started like a team posessed with both Colm McAuley and Chris Smye playing particularly well, and it was the Ogs who scored first through a well taken Smye point.
However we couldn't make our pressure count and for all the hardwork soon found ourselves a point down. Then came disaster as Ardoyne scored two quickfire goals, one a superb top corner drive...and the other was dropped into the back of the net by our esteemed goalkeeper Ging!! The Ogs however responded with a well taken Colm McAuley point, but once again Ardoyne came straight up the field and hit us with another goal (this time it wasn't the keeper's fault).
By this stage Ardoyne were now the dominant force, and their strong midfield was winning every ball, however some wayward shooting and strong defending from Ciaran Ryan and Peter Elliott in particular kept the Ogs within touching distance.
Half time score:Eire Og 0-4 3-4 Ardoyne
The Ogs came out in the second half determined not to go down without a fight. Ardoyne however were first to score however with a free from a blatant foul on their mouthy half forward (well done chris!!). However a great tactical move by the legend (Johnny Smye of course!) by moving McAuley to midfield paid off immediately. A lobbing free from McAuley was broken down by Peter Elliott and Niall O'Connor smashed home a superb goal to give the Ogs a lifeline.
By this stage we were flying, up front Dan Stewart, Darryl Corner and Niall O'Connor were running riot, in midfield McAuley and Smye were leaving men in their wake and in defence Ciaran Ryan was making some valuable blocks whilst Peter Elliott (McGeeney-like) in half back was delivering some great balls to our forwards. Two quick points from frees from McAuley were soon followed by a Chris Smye point and a McAuley goal to leave the Ogs just two points down with ten minutes remaining. A point from Joe Hughes was soon followed by another two McAuley points to bring the Ogs a point ahead with just 5 minutes to go. And some superb defending once again from the lively Elliott and Ciaran Ryan (who made a great block in the dying seconds) were ably backed up by Declan Rice and kiavan, making sure that the Ogs were not going to lose this game. A superb ball from Peter Elliott to Darryl Corner left him with a great chance to seal it for the Ogs ... and seal it he did!!. A great hard fought win for the Ogs to bring their season back on track!
