Winners of the Sean McCartan Endeavour Shield at the St Paul's Tournament

Eire Og were in Group 2 along with St John’s and Davitt’s.

1st game v St John’s – lost 3-3 to 1-1
2nd game v Davitt’s – won 2-1 to 0-3

Due to Davitt’s losing to St John’s, Eire Og finished as runners up in their group. The runners up in all the groups then entered the Endeavour Shield. We played Lamh Dhearg and won 2-1 to 0-0 in an 8 minute match without a break.

It was then decided by Sean McCartan that, out of the 4 teams in the Endeavour Shield, Eire Og were the pick of the 4 due to scoring and the amount of fouls committed during all the games.

We are very pleased and proud of all our young players who took part on the day and could not single out anyone in particular as all players were tremendous on what turned out to be a very enjoyable day.

U10 St Teresa’s Football Tournament - Saturday 3rd Sept 2005.

Eire Og won Group 1 where they were matched against St Teresa’s and Rasharkin. They beat St Teresa’s 4-3 to 3-2 in the first game and were then beaten by Rasharkin 1-2 to 1-1 in a closely fought 2nd game. With St Teresa’s beating Rasharkin, that meant that all the teams in the group had 1 win each but the Ogs won the group on points scored and due to the fact that they beat St Teresa’s. They then progressed into the Dessie Hill Cup where they met the runners up of Group 3 which were Steelstown, a team who had travelled down from Derry. In another closely fought competitive game, the score at full time was 0-2 to 0-2 but the Ogs came out on top due to two 45’s awarded during the game.

Our next encounter was against sterner opposition from Sligo in the semi-final, a team who had remained unbeaten during the competition up to this stage. After a hard fought battle, we were eventually beaten by a more mature side 0-1 to 0-5. The Ogs efforts didn’t go unnoticed from the numerous spectators and pundits around the ground who heaped praise on their efforts. A tremendous effort by all the players on the day and the summer weather made this a very enjoyable day out, with hopefully encouraging future prospects for the Ogs. Our thanks must also go to St Teresa’s for the invitation to a very well run tournament. THANKS!!!!!
